Program Overview

The Introduction to Business Management Skills Program is a fast-paced interactive workshop aimed at supporting supervisors and those new to management to be truly effective in their roles. 

This program will help delegates to develop their interpersonal skills and to improve their performance through planning, resource allocation and managing time effectively.  It will also focus on the skills needed to develop effective working relationships linked to performance management to meet agreed business objectives.

Delegates will explore and examine many of the rapid changes, demands, constraints and uncertainties which constantly confront each of us, in our daily business lives. 

Major corporations throughout the world now recognise that most staff grievances, low levels of morale & motivation and general problems at work can be directly related to poor business management practices and inappropriate leadership.  This on-line program aims to equip delegates with many of the tools, techniques and working practices to create a truly great place to work.

Program Content

Day-1 Module one - Developing Self Awareness Defining the Role of Supervisor vs. Manager vs. Leader

  • Understand personal Learning Styles and how to capitalise on knowing how one’s-self and other prefer to learn
  • Define the key differences between supervising, managing and leading
  • Identify the principal behaviours and characteristics required to be highly successful
  • Commit to a personal development plan and course objective for this programme

 

Day-1 Module two - Time Management & Prioritizing Skills

  • Personally relate to the 6 key benefits of effective time management
  • Develop an immediate work plan based on the 7 principles of effective time management
  • Review and make any necessary changes to current practice of recording time & priority management issues                
  • Explain why managing time really matters to our work and health, in our changing world
  • Identify tasks that should be a) completed in relation to their key objectives, b) managed away
  • Analyse situations that hinder their performance and identify techniques to overcome them

 

Day-2 Module one - High Impact Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Recognise the complex process of communication to achieve both personal and company goals
  • Identify how to apply these new skills to improve individual and team performance
  • Interpret your own and different communication styles to build more productive working relationships
  • Determine the communication barriers in your work environment and strategies for reducing their influence
  • Identify how to motivate and influence others
  • Recognise the difference between assertive and non-assertive behaviours

 

Day-2 Module two – Creative Problem-Solving skills                                                   

  • Understand how to add value through innovative problem solving and decision-making
  • Appreciate the vital importance that communication and active listening have in building a creative problem-solving environment
  • Understand, at a detailed level, how to brainstorm effectively
  • Be more innovative in their approach in developing solutions to problems
  • Develop their ability to think "outside the box”
  • Obtain the necessary skills to make better business decisions
  • Recognise the difference between solving problems and finding solutions
  • Apply problem solving tools to real life situations.
