Health and Safety in the Workplace Level 1

This qualification will help you understand that Health and Safety is the responsibility of everyone within a business, including contractors, visitors and suppliers.

It is a highly interactive workshop and will involve tutorials, discussions, exercises, case study and workshops.

• Understand the requirements for workplace procedures

Learning Outcome:

• State what is meant by health and safety at work
• Define the key terms used in health and safety
• State the main legal responsibilities of employers and employees with respect to health, safety and welfare in the workplace
• Identify the benefits of maintaining a tidy, well-organized workplace
• State the importance of maintaining suitable environmental conditions
• Outline the welfare facilities that should be provided
• Identify the different classes of health and safety signage
• Explain the need for reporting accidents, ill health, dangerous events and near misses
• Identify the purpose of the first-aid provision
• Identify the types and uses of personal protective equipment

Assessment Guidance:

• This qualification is assessed through a 15-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes.
• Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.
