• UAE Legislations applicable to this Standard includes but not limited to:

• Federal Law No. 8 (1980) UAE Labour Law and its Amendments Chapter V: Safety,

Protection, and the Health and Social Care of the Employees; Article (91).

• UAE Ministerial Order No. (32), 1982. Specifying Preventive Methods and Measures for Protecting Workers against Work Hazards.

• Executive Regulations of Federal Law No. 9 for the year 2011 concerning Land Transport.

• UAE Federal Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995 Regarding Traffic.

• UAE Federal Law No. 12 of 2007.

• Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2017 regarding traffic control rules.

Aims & Objectives

• To provide specific guidance to both ADNOC ONSHORE and contractors on the management of Land Transport on ADNOC ONSHORE business or travelling within ADNOC ONSHORE concession areas.

• All you do it’s for their benefit. Be part of BE SAFE System & create road safety awareness, change drivers’ attitude & behaviours for adapting safe driving style which helps to minimize death, injuries & road traffic crashes.

Course Overview

• Safe Driving Course for Light & Heavy vehicles drivers adapted for the driving environment in UAE.

• The course aims to minimize fatality, injury and damage resulting from road crashes.

•  The course will raise participants’ defensive driving skills, visual skills, knowledge of vehicle limitations, and drivers’ responsibility to other road users.

• The course through both classroom and in-vehicle sessions out on the road & Off Road will provide drivers with an awareness of actual and potential hazards associated with driving on Blacktop Roads as well in Desert (Off Road) in UAE and equips drivers with the necessary defensive driving skills and techniques to recognize these hazards, understand the defence, and act in time that of others around them.

Pre-Requisites

Non-professional Driver Qualification

• Requirements for ADNOC Group personnel to drive a Company vehicle shall include, but not be limited to:

• Shall possess a valid UAE driving license.

• An automatic-only driving license holder shall not drive a manual-gearbox car.

• Shall only drive vehicles that they have driver’s license for; and

• Shall be trained on defensive driving at an awareness level.

Professional Driver Qualification

• Requirements to be qualified for working as a driver within ADNOC Group shall include, but not be limited to:

• Obtained a health certificate stating the absence of physical illness, mental illness, psychological disorder, and fitness to perform duties from the Ministry of Health and the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi.

• Shall possess a valid UAE driving license for the type of vehicle required to operate.

• Minimum experience for light vehicle drivers shall be 1 year experience of driving after obtaining UAE license and 2 years’ experience of driving for heavy vehicle drivers.

• Shall have both theoretical and practical training on defensive driving; and

• Shall be trained on first aid.

• Any additional training that is required based on the type of vehicle and the cargo transported, such as load/cargo securement, if applicable.

Course Module

There are six modules during these two days duration course. Where Day One Theoretical classroom session & Day Two Practical in-vehicle training session.

1. Road Crashes Statistic & Causes of Crashes.

2. Road Code (Signs and Markings).

3. Defensive Driving.

4. Driver’s attitude and behaviour.

5. Off-Road Driving.

Theory and Practical Assessment

All candidates are requiring to pass at least 75%of

Multiple choice question paper.

Practical Driving Assessment.

Certification & Validity

• Crosswind Safety Personal Safety Passport, Certification for ADSD Course & ADSD Card will be issued on successful completion of the Training Programme. The Certificate & ADSD Card validity is 2 years from end of the training date.
